Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the RBI Assistant exam, candidates must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria set by the RBI. The basic eligibility criteria include:

RBI Assistant Nationality:A candidate is required to be

  • A citizen of India or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

RBI Assistant Educational Qualification: The candidates who are willing to apply for RBI Assistant 2023 must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate final result. Knowledge of computers is a must with proficiency in languages for particular states.

Note: There is no need for a minimum of 50% marks for SC/ST/PWD categories (only pass class for SC/ST/PwBD candidates).

RBI Assistant Age Limit: A candidate must fall in the age group of 20 to 28 years to be eligible to apply for the RBI Assistant 2023 Exam. Check the age relaxation as per the government rules from the below table. Candidates who must have been born not earlier than 02/02/1994 and not later than 01/02/2002 (both days including) are only eligible to apply.

RBI Assistant 2023 Selection Process

RBI Assistant 2023 exam is going to be conducted in three phases

  • Prelims
  • Mains
  • Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

The preliminary examination has three sections: Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability and English Language.

The mains exam has five different sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Computer Knowledge and General Awareness.

There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for the wrong answers attempted by the candidate. No marks will be deducted if the question is left unanswered or blank.

RBI Assistant 2023 Application Fee

The candidates have to pay the requisite application fee while submitting their RBI Assistant Application Form.

  • SC/ST/PWD/EXS. (Intimation Charges): Rs.50/-
  • OBC/General/EWS candidates (Examination fees+ Intimation Charges): Rs 450/-

Note: Please note that the Staff candidates are exempted from payment of examination fees and intimation charges.

RBI Assistant 2023 Exam Pattern

The RBI Assistant exam is conducted in two phases: Preliminary and Main. The Preliminary exam consists of three sections: English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. The Main exam consists of five sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, Computer Knowledge, and General Awareness. Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary exam will be eligible to appear for the Main exam.

RBI Assistant Exam Pattern Prelims: The first stage for RBI Assistant 2023 is the Preliminary Examination which consists of three sections- English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks. The duration of the RBI Assistant Prelims Exam is 1 hour (60 minutes) which is divided into sectional timing, 20 minutes for each section and the marks distribution has been tabulated below:

RBI Assistant Mains Exam Pattern: The candidates qualifying in RBI Assistant Prelims Exam will have to appear in RBI Assistant Mains Exam. There were be 5 sections namely English, Quantitative, Reasoning, Computer Knowledge, and General Awareness. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks. In this phase, the time duration is 135 minutes which is distributed section-wise as tabulated below:

RBI Assistant Language Proficiency Test

The candidates provisionally shortlisted from the main online examination will have to undergo a language proficiency test (LPT). The language proficiency test will be conducted in the Official / Local Language of the State concerned as detailed below). Candidates not proficient in the Official / Local Language shall be disqualified from the selection process.
