Maruti is working on its new flagship model, which will be a rebadged version of the Innova Highcross. For this, the company has also registered the trademark, although the official announcement is still pending. According to the information, this car coming in the name of Maruti Engage can be launched in July. Its direct competition is going to be from Mahindra XUV700, Kia carnivals, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus.
The front grille design of Maruti Suzuki’s Innova Highcross MPV has been leaked ahead of its arrival in India. The front grille design of the Maruti Engage has already been seen on cars like the Grand Vitara and the Maruti Franks. The signature hexagonal design with chrome surround confirms this. In the picture that has been leaked, the front upper part of the car could not be seen clearly. The Engage could get 3-point LED DRLs, other features found in the car could also be made according to the new Nexa design. Along with this, the Maruti Engage will include bumper, projector headlamps with thick body cladding, blacked-out pillars, sculpted bonnet, squarish wheel arches, sporty alloy wheels and edgy tail lamps.
The Toyota Innova Highcross Hybrid variant comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine, which makes 172.99hp of max power and 209Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a CVT gearbox. Whereas the 2.0-litre petrol motor onboard the Innova Hycross Hybrid variant generates 183.7hp and 188Nm of torque. It comes with e-drive. The same engine and transmission could be offered with the Maruti Engage.
Features found on the Maruti Engage can be carried over from the innova hycrosss, including 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear sunshade, 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, 360° surround view camera, electrochromic IRVM, multi-zone AC.
As advanced features, the car comes with several connectivity features like remote command, find my car, remote vehicle ignition start/stop and vehicle health report, while for safety, it gets 6 SRS airbags, anti-lock braking system, hill start assist. Front and reverse parking sensors and reverse parking camera are included. Toyota Safety Sense system includes auto high beams, crash sensors, blind spot monitor, lane trace assist, rear cross traffic alert and cruise control.
