Car sales report for May 2023: It has been just three days in the month of May, and all the car manufacturers are releasing the sales figures of their vehicles one after the other. One good thing about these figures is that big companies seem to be benefiting, while the problem of semiconductor chips for electric car makers is still the same.
A total of 3,35,531 passenger cars have been sold in May 2023; this is the fifth consecutive month when more than three lakh vehicles have been sold. Maruti, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Toyota have been on top in terms of vehicle sales and have the highest share. Let us take a look at the figures in detail. Passenger vehicle sales have seen a year-on-year growth of 13.99 percent, while the month-on-month growth has been 1.21 percent. A total of 2,94,342 units of vehicles were sold in May last year, which has increased to 3,35,531 units this year.
1: When talking about companies, Maruti Suzuki is always on top. Maruti’s sales have increased by 15.45 percent year-on-year; in May last year, the company sold 1,24,474 units, which has increased to 1,43,708 units this year.
Hyundai Motors is second after Maruti Suzuki. Hyundai Motors sales have registered a growth of 14.91 percent over last year. Hyundai sold 42,293 units in May last year, which has increased to 48,601 units this time.
3: Indigenous company Tata Motors is at number three. Tata sold 43,341 units of vehicles last year, which has increased by 5.85 percent to 45,878 units this year.
4: Mahindra & Mahindra is also an indigenous company in fourth place; this company sold 26,904 units of vehicles last year, which has increased by 22.23% to 32,886 units this year.
5: The Japanese company Toyota Motors is at number five; there has been tremendous growth in the business of this company. Compared to the previous year, there has been an increase of 99.78 percent in the sales of Toyota. In May 2022, Toyota sold 10,216 passenger vehicles, and this time this figure has crossed 20,410.
